Dental Emergency? Do These Three Things First.

Step one: call us. Any hour.
844.314.1144 rings 24/7. During clinic hours we’ll fit you in the same day. After hours, an on-call clinician talks you through the next steps so nothing gets worse overnight.
Knocked-out tooth
Pick it up by the white crown (not the root). Rinse gently with water — no scrubbing. If you can, slide it back into the socket and bite on a clean cloth. If not, park it in a small cup of milk (not water) and come straight in. A tooth back in its socket within an hour has the best odds.
Serious toothache or swelling
Rinse with warm salt water, floss lightly around the sore tooth in case it’s food debris, and hold a cold pack against the outside of your cheek for 15 minutes at a time. Do not put aspirin directly on the gum — it burns the tissue. If your face is swelling toward your eye or you’re having trouble breathing, head to the ER first.
Broken or chipped tooth
Save any pieces you can find in a small container. Cover any sharp edges with sugar-free gum or a bit of dental wax to protect your tongue and cheek. We can often bond the piece back the same day.
Lost filling or crown
Not usually painful, but easy for food to get stuck. Rinse, avoid chewing on that side, and pick up temporary dental cement from any pharmacy if it’ll be more than a day before we see you.
