The Two-Minute Routine That Saves Your Teeth (and Your Wallet)

The short version
Nine out of ten problems we treat — cavities, gum inflammation, bad breath, sensitivity — start with plaque that a good daily routine would have handled. Get the basics right and you’ll spend a lot less time in our chair (which we’re weirdly fine with).
Your DentaCare-approved daily list
- Brush twice, two minutes each. Fluoride toothpaste, soft bristles, and gentle circles at a 45-degree angle to the gums. Set a timer — most people quit after 45 seconds.
- Floss once, before bed. If string floss feels fiddly, a water flosser or pre-strung picks count. The goal is disruption, not perfection.
- Rinse when it makes sense. A fluoride or antibacterial rinse a few nights a week is plenty. Skip the strong alcohol ones — they dry your mouth out.
- Sip water, especially after coffee, wine, and citrus. Water resets the pH in your mouth faster than gum or breath mints.
- Watch the sticky stuff. Dried fruit, gummies, and slow-sipped sodas are the real cavity culprits — not chocolate.
